CyberMedia Research: Tablets are not to replace desktops any time soon : worldleaks

A study guided by CyberMedia Research in order to gauge the insight of tablets in India has exposed that the people in the country are in no mood to swap their desktops for slates just yet. And you won’t be surprised to hear that a large chunk of users prefer Android-based tablets over other platforms.

The said organization carried out ‘India Tablets Consumer Usage and Adoption Trends 2013’ analysis on 3600 people out of which 1200 were non-users. The results shows that Samsung, the number one mobile phone manufacturer across the globe has the highest brand recall even among those who do not own a slate. As many as 87 percent users have admitted to preferring Android-based gadgets, while only 10 percent would go for the Apple iPad.

43 percent of the tablet users have a family income that stands anywhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 per month. Portability and mobility are the main reasons for buying tablets and the main functions that are carried out on them is social networking and entertainment. As many as 51 percent of customers spend at least two hours a day on the gadget and this is even likely to increase.

Those who own tablets, use it for communicating through chatting, messaging and emailing more than once a day. Indian applications have been followed by a lot of customers and close to 18 percent have also opted to pay for them. The percentage of people who think tablets will not be replacing PCs is 78 percent.

According to CyberMedia Research, more users could buy tablets in the future as about 10 percent of the respondents got the desire in the research.
