Barbara Walters ‘Most Fascinating Person of 2013 ‘ on final TV special : worldleaks
2013’s “The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year” include Royal baby Prince George, NSA leaker Edward Snowden, twerking pop star Miley Cyrus and the cast of “Duck Dynasty.” But who is this year’s most fascinating person?
Barbara Walters revealed on her final ABC News special Wednesday night that Hillary Clinton was the most interesting public figure of the past 12 months. It was the former Secretary of State’s third time appearing on the list and her first time in the No. 1 spot.
E! News called Clinton a corresponding choice for 2013’s “Most Fascinating Person” since the then First Lady was the very first person named on the special when it began in 1993. Walters, 84, plans to retire from television next year, making Clinton the first and last “fascinating” person.
Walters interviewed Clinton about whether or not she would run for president again in 2016, a subject of speculation since Pres. Obama was re-elected last year.
“I haven’t made up my mind,” Clinton said. “Obviously, I will look carefully at what I think I can do and make that decision sometime next year.”
Walters asked whether her husband Bill Clinton would stand with her in a possible White House bid (“He wants me to do what I think is right”) and what he would be named if she becomes the United States’ first female Commander in Chief: “First mate, I don’t know,” she said with a laugh.
Past “Most Fascinating People” have laid out from Pippa Middleton and Nelson Mandela to Steve Jobs and Derek Jeter. Twelve people have made the list twice — Gen. David Petraeus topped it in 2010 and 2012 — but only Clinton and Sarah Palin have been on it three times.
The rest of this year’s “Top 10 Most Fascinating People” include Cyrus, Snowden, Prince George, and the cast of “Duck Dynasty.” Rounding out the 2013 list are “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” actress Jennifer Lawrence, “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts, Pope Francis, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
